9:30 pm - Because i'm bored
I feel a migraine coming on!

This morning I got up early to try and buy Pink tickets. I lined up and was 13th in the queue at my local newsagency. I needed to buy five, and unlike most people in the queue we didn't care about sitting or standing. Unfortunately by the time it got to my turn she could only offer me two tickets and I needed five so I didn't accept them, and a girl behind me bought them. I should have accepted them and made the saleslady try again, as there was a small chance that I might have been able to buy another three. At the time with the frantic mood of ticket buying it didn't seem like an option. Oh well! Pink released more and more shows last time, and apparently there were plenty of tickets to the final one she released so maybe she might release another and we'll be luckier. It all seems like quite a lottery though, we tried the phone, and the internet but that didn't work either.

I bought bread and milk instead, and went home to make breakfast. Tom and I went to the bank and found it much easier than we anticipated to sort out our bank accounts and home loan etc. We headed into the city and went washing machine shopping. We have at least narrowed the selection down to two options: a Miele or an Asko. We also sat on a very comfy $4000 corner sofa with a chaise, in a chocolate coloured fabric that looked sort of like linen but couldn't have been. I really like it, but I am not convinced it'll actually fit into our house!!

I sneaked into Nine West who are having a shoe sale, but they didn't have the style I liked in my size. They had plenty of other nice styles but I didn't subject Tom to having to wait while I tried them all on, he was in there for long enough as it was.

When it came to eat lunch I had major indecision! For some silly reason, I feel as though I should eat vegetarian when out for meals with Tom. After much dithering in the food court I listened to my meat cravings and had chicken pasta!

Would you believe it took over an hour just to fit me with a N95 mask this afternoon? I spent my whole afternoon with the OH&S people for my job at the hospital next year. I sat down and started reading about "Jen strikes back at Ange for stealing Brad" when the receptionist wanted me to fill in a form, then back to reading trash, then I had to fill in a different form, back to reading trash, then I had to pee in a cup, back to reading trash, then she wanted to photocopy my immunisation records....finally I got called in to have the mask fitted. They want you to be fitted for the super-dooper mask protective against airborne particles in case of a flu pandemic. They used to think one size fitted all. Hah. Not with my big nose. It took four different masks, and several rounds of testing to fit one to my face. One sprung a leak when I grimaced, another didn't even cope with normal breathing, another stopped working when I turned side to side. I was so sick of deep breathing, nodding, talking etc. by the end of it all! And that wasn't even me finished with - I then had to see the actual doctor! When he was examining my hand/wrist movements he commented "Nice rock!" I think he's the first man to ever notice!! It is a nice rock, I like it very much.

9:58 pm - Just a quick one
Yay holidays in only 2 days!!

I don't know what to wear for drinks to celebrate on friday night, I feel like getting dressed up but there are no good shops up here and I won't have time to get anything new when I get back. I may already have the perfect outfit to wear, but I have sorta forgotten which clothes I own while I've been living up here with a "capsule wardrobe".

Today I went back to the Curdnatta gallery to try and buy the fabulous hand dyed marbled fabric I saw. I fell in love with it when I saw it, but having no idea about dressmaking wasn't confident the length they were selling could be used for my purposes (a long ball dress) so I didn't buy it. Unfortunately they were closed today. Oh well. Will try again if I get time tomorrow. They sell it in 2.5m pieces, which is unlikely to be enough for a long dress but still could be nice for a cocktail length dress depending on the fabric width, cut of the dress and pattern on the fabric.

I watched the election coverage, and was really pleased to see Obama win. I hope that he retains the support he has behind him at the moment, and that his passion is translated into action for the country. On ABC lateline special they had a really cynical English political commentator, and I felt sorry for the host Tony Eastley, who was struggling to control this guy who kept changing topics during his answers. If I were him I would be thinking "I'm never having him back on the show!" He did raise some very interesting points, so it was probably worth the effort.

I have been going to bed later and later this week for some reason, so I am going back to my flat now and goig to try and get a good night's sleep this time! Lots to do tomorrow (assist in theatre for two lap choles and god knows what else, pack up all my shit, clean the whole unit) Driving home Friday afternoon looks to be a likely option as the theatre list isn't too packed, and no major cases on it that I could see. Just the usual endoscopies, colonoscopies, skin lesions etc.

5:10 pm - bored in Pt Augusta
I've been in Pt Augusta for a week and a half now. It is actually much nicer than it's reputation would indicate. I'm living in a little unit, by myself now that the other student went back to the city for her exams. I have to admit I was pretty glad when she left- she had some annoying habits (eg. leaving the door unlocked, leaving washing on the line for a week, coming back late at night and being noisy etc.) It is lonely though. Thank god for the internet and TV. Now I understand why other people watch so much of it - sometimes you just having nothing else to do!

I won't publicly post about the hospital because this is such a small place anyone here will know who I'm talking about!

More about the weekend and I know you all want to know what I ate last week! )

8:02 pm - Miss Sporty Scarlet!
I joined the gym (GoodLife) on Thursday last week. I am pretty pleased with the decision at the moment, and I hope I can keep up the good work. My butt hurts from sitting on an exercise bike in RPM, and god damn that class does things to my quads and makes them burn. I think if I can curb my chocolate addiction I may actually lose weight. I also want to try Bollywood, Pilates, Yoga, Step and Circuits which are offered. There are 2 of these gyms near me, Mitcham (bigger and better) and Burnside (closer but parking is a bitch)

I am down in Port Adelaide doing general practice at the moment. I thought I hated GP, but that was probably because they kept sending me to the same one (the Work Health Clinic in Elizabeth Vale who specialise in WorkCover claims) It turns out I don't hate GP, I just hate WorkCover.

I drove from Port Adelaide to Happy Valley for 50 mins the other day to see the dentist, who I hadn't seen for nearly 2 years. My teeth are still good, and I have to keep up the good work! Yay!

I made truffles. Bailey's, Kahlua, Cherry, Frangelico and Orange. I am awesome. They are delicious.
